Bias Tire Patch EURO BN3 89 mm (2-Ply) – Xtra Seal

Diagonal tire repair insert | Type BN3, 2-ply cord | Brand: Xtra Seal | Sold as: 1 pc.

The EURO bias tire patch BN3 89 mm from Xtra Seal is a 2-ply repair insert built exclusively for bias-ply tires — both tube-type and tubeless. It shares the same cord count as the BN2, but with a notably wider diameter (89 mm versus 75 mm), allowing it to cover a broader damage area while maintaining the same cord strength. Like the other patches in this line, it can also serve as a valve housing for tube valves in truck and agricultural inner tubes. The slit mylar backing is peeled off right before mounting. It works with cold and hot vulcanization.

💡 BN3 vs BN2 — same cord count, wider coverage The BN2 (75 mm, 2-ply) and BN3 (89 mm, 2-ply) share an identical cord construction — two layers running crosswise, intersecting each other at an angle that matches the structure of a bias-ply tire. The only difference is diameter. The BN3 is the right choice when the damaged area is too wide for the BN2, but no additional cord layer is needed — the repair just requires broader coverage at the same structural strength.

Product Overview – Bias Tire Patch EURO BN3 89 mm 11-490

The patch consists of black rubber over a blue tie gum, which creates a durable bond with the inner liner surface once cured. Two layers of crosswise bias cord reinforce the repair area in line with the bias tire's own structure. Thin, even edges lower the risk of the patch lifting at the edges.

Like the BN1 and BN2, the BN3 can serve as a valve housing for truck and agricultural inner tubes — useful when the original valve housing is damaged. The slit mylar backing is peeled off right before the patch is applied to the prepared, cement-coated inner surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the BN3 differ from the BN2?

The BN2 (11-489) has a 75 mm diameter and two cord layers; the BN3 (11-490) has 89 mm and the same two cord layers. The structural strength of the cord is identical — the only difference is diameter. The BN3 is chosen when the damage area is too wide for the BN2, but no additional cord ply is required.

Can BN3 bias patches be used on radial tires?

No — the bias cord insert is built for bias-ply tires only. The crosswise cord arrangement matches the structure of a bias tire; using this patch in a radial tire goes against repair technology guidelines. For radial tires, radial-cord repair inserts should be used.

Which cements work with the 11-490 patch?

The manufacturer recommends Xtra Seal Standard cement (14-008) or Super-Blu (14-511) for cold-cure vulcanization. After mounting, sealing the patch edges and buffed surface with Sealiner is recommended.
