Bias Tire Patch EURO BN5 135 mm (2-Ply) – Xtra Seal

Diagonal tire repair insert | Type BN5, 2-ply cord | Brand: Xtra Seal | Sold as: 1 pc.

The EURO bias tire patch BN5 135 mm from Xtra Seal is a 2-ply repair insert built exclusively for bias-ply tires — both tube-type and tubeless. Sharing the same cord construction as the BN2, BN3, and BN4, the BN5 provides a notably wider coverage area (135 mm versus 110 mm for the BN4), making it the right choice when extensive damage in truck or agricultural tires extends beyond what the smaller BN formats can cover with adequate margin. Like the rest of the BN line, it can also serve as a valve housing for truck and agricultural inner tubes. The slit mylar backing is peeled off right before mounting. It works with cold and hot vulcanization.

💡 BN5 — wider coverage at unchanged cord strength The BN5 shares the same 2-ply crosswise cord construction as the BN2, BN3, and BN4. Choosing the BN5 over a smaller BN format isn't about needing stronger cord — it's about the size of the damage. When the affected area exceeds the reach of the BN4 (110 mm), the BN5 provides coverage with the required margin around the repair.

Product Overview – Bias Tire Patch EURO BN5 135 mm 11-492

The patch consists of black rubber over a blue tie gum, which creates a durable bond with the inner liner surface once cured. Two layers of crosswise bias cord reinforce the repair area in line with the bias tire's own structure. Thin, even edges lower the risk of the patch lifting and make it harder for dirt to collect around the repair.

Like the other patches in the BN line, the BN5 can serve as a valve housing for truck and agricultural inner tubes — useful when the original valve housing is damaged. The slit mylar backing is peeled off right before the patch is applied to the prepared, cement-coated inner surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the BN5 differ from the BN4?

The BN4 (11-491) has a 110 mm diameter and two cord layers; the BN5 (11-492) has 135 mm and the same two cord layers. The structural strength of the cord is identical — the only difference is diameter. The BN5 is chosen when the damage area is too wide for the BN4.

Can BN5 bias patches be used on radial tires?

No — the bias cord insert is built for bias-ply tires only. The crosswise cord arrangement matches the structure of a bias tire; using this patch in a radial tire goes against repair technology guidelines. For radial tires, radial-cord repair inserts should be used.

Which cements work with the 11-492 patch?

The manufacturer recommends Xtra Seal Standard cement (14-008) or Super-Blu (14-511) for cold-cure vulcanization. After mounting, sealing the patch edges and buffed surface with Sealiner is recommended.
