Lens-Shaped Grinding Stone (Mushroom Head) with Shank – for Steel Cord Trimming
Mushroom-head stone for high-speed grinders | Max. 20000 RPM | Sold as 1 pc.
Damaged steel cord needs to be trimmed cleanly and only where the repair actually is — the rest of the tire's structure can't take any collateral damage. This lens-shaped grinding stone, often called a mushroom head, has a smaller diameter than the 42 mm version, so it reaches into even tighter corners. The smaller the lens diameter, the easier it reaches into awkward spots inside the repair channel. The stone is meant to run with a high-speed grinder such as the 14-319 and sits on a 6 mm shank, ready for chuck mounting.
What it's used for
Trimming frayed steel cord ends is one of the trickier parts of a tire repair — it has to be precise enough not to disturb the surrounding layers. The flattened, rounded lens profile lets you work at angles a straight wheel or cone can't reach. The smaller 32 mm diameter works well in narrower damage and more confined spots than the larger version can handle.

Frequently asked questions
Why does steel cord need to be trimmed?
Frayed cord ends can puncture the repair patch from the inside or keep damaging the tire under load. Trimming them cleanly is a condition for a repair that actually lasts.
How is this different from the 42 mm version (14-355)?
The smaller 32 mm lens diameter reaches into tighter, harder-to-access spots where the larger version might not fit. The working principle and shape are the same.
Can I use this stone with a grinder other than the 14-319?
The manufacturer recommends the 14-319 high-speed grinder. If you use a different tool, make sure it doesn't exceed 20000 RPM.
What speed is safe for this stone?
Up to 20000 RPM. Check your drive tool before you start.
