What this valve body is for
The system breaks down into three parts: a connector bonded to the tube (cold or hot, depending on what equipment is on hand), a sealing washer, and the valve body itself, which screws onto the connector once it's fitted. Splitting the valve this way pays off during servicing — if the body gets damaged, only that part needs replacing, without stripping and re-bonding the connector in the tube. The 17-490C spring-loaded core keeps the pressure in, and the cap keeps it clean.
