Construction and cord technology
The unit is built from black rubber over high-grade blue tacky rubber, formed on a mylar backing scored so the protective film peels away cleanly before fitting. Three cord layers (3 ply) give it noticeably higher load capacity than the single- and double-ply units, which supports a lasting repair at the points on a tyre that see the most stress in service.
Each cord layer is cut in a distinctive wave pattern, spreading stress across a wider area instead of concentrating it at one point. The cord ends are wrapped so they can "float" freely inside the rubber, which cuts down on cracking at the cord ends or the unit tearing away from the tyre — a failure mode more common with other manufacturers' repair units.
