Construction and Materials
The unit is made of black rubber laid onto high-quality blue tie rubber and formed on a mylar backing, scored for easy removal before fitting. Each radially arranged cord ply is cut in a distinctive wavy pattern that spreads stress over a larger area. The cord ends are further wrapped so they can "float" inside the rubber - a design that reduces the risk of the unit cracking at the cord ends or lifting away from the tyre, a problem seen with some other manufacturers' products.
