EURO Radial Repair Unit 2-Ply 73×215 mm – Xtra Seal

Repair unit for radial tyres  |  2 plies of radial cord  |  Brand: Xtra Seal  |  Sold as: 1 pc.

EURO radial repair unit 2-ply 73×215 mm by Xtra Seal is a professional repair material for the regeneration of radial tyres. Designed for nail-hole repairs, reinforcement repairs and sectional repairs within the approved repair zone. Constructed from black rubber bonded to blue active rubber on a scored mylar backing. Compatible with cold vulcanisation, hot vulcanisation and the two-stage method.

💡 What does the 2-ply designation mean? The 2-ply designation indicates that the repair unit contains two layers of radial cord. The number of cord plies determines the unit's strength and the range of approved applications – 2-ply units are used for larger repairs in passenger, van and light truck tyres, where greater reinforcement is required than with 1-ply units. For heavy truck tyre repairs and the most demanding applications, higher-ply units (3-ply, 4-ply) are used.

Product description – EURO radial repair unit 2-ply 2-11-724

Unit 2-11-724 is used for crown area repairs in radial tyres where reinforcement of the repair site with a cord layer is required. The radially aligned cord plies distribute stress evenly across a wider area, improving repair durability and reducing the risk of re-damage at the repair site.

The black rubber is bonded to blue active rubber, which ensures a strong and durable bond with the prepared tyre surface. The scored mylar backing allows quick and clean removal of the protective layer immediately before installation, without risk of contaminating the bonding surface.

Apply vulcanizing cement and allow to dry to tack. Remove the mylar backing from the unit immediately before application – not before – to avoid contaminating the bonding surface. Press firmly using a roller, working from the centre outward. Finally, apply Sealiner (4-14-128A) to the repair unit edges and the entire buffed surface.

Frequently asked questions

How does a 2-ply unit differ from 2-ply, 3-ply and 4-ply units?

The number in the designation (1-ply, 2-ply, 3-ply, 4-ply) indicates the number of radial cord layers. 2-ply units are used for larger repairs in passenger, van and light truck tyres, where greater reinforcement is required than with 1-ply units. Units with more cord plies are designed for heavy truck tyre repairs and the most demanding applications. Selecting the correct unit depends on damage size, tyre type and the repair zone.

Is unit 2-11-724 suitable for truck tyres?

The 2-ply 73×215 mm unit is designed primarily for passenger and light van tyres. For truck tyre repairs, units with a higher number of cord plies and larger dimensions are recommended – available in our catalogue.

Which cements should be used with unit 2-11-724?

For cold vulcanisation, Xtra Seal vulcanizing cements are recommended: clear 14-008 or blue Super Blu 14-511. For hot vulcanisation, Black Vulc Cement (4-14-515) is used. After installing the unit, sealing the edges and buffed surface with Sealiner (4-14-128A) is recommended.
