Xtra Seal Mushroom Repair Plug with Metal Cap – 6 mm Stem
Tire repair plug | Mushroom type, stem with metal installation cap | Brand: Xtra Seal | Sold per piece
The 6 mm stem sits between the sizes in the Xtra Seal mushroom plug range, sized for puncture channels wider than what the 4 mm stem can fill. Stem size is matched to the width of the puncture channel, not to the type or size of the tire, so the 6 mm plug works equally well in passenger, truck, agricultural, or industrial tires, as long as the puncture channel is the right width. A metal cap on the end of the stem helps pull the plug through the puncture opening during installation; it's removed once the stem has been pulled through. This plug is intended for radial and bias-ply tires, tube-type and tubeless, and is designed for cold vulcanization only.
Product Description – Mushroom Plug 3-13-383
The plug is made from black rubber coated with an active vulcanizing rubber layer on the stem and on the underside of the head. Once vulcanizing cement is applied and the plug is installed, this layer reacts chemically, bonding the plug, the cement, and the tire's inner surface into one repair. A metal cap on the end of the stem makes it easier to pull the plug through the puncture channel from the inside of the tire to the outside; the cap is removed once the plug has been pulled through.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this plug different from the standard version without a metal cap?
The working principle is the same: the stem seals the puncture channel while the head protects the tire from the inside. The difference is purely in installation: a metal cap on the end of the stem makes it easier to pull the plug through the puncture opening. Once the stem has been pulled through to the outside of the tire, the cap is removed — it isn't part of the finished repair.
How is this plug different from the 4 mm version (3-13-381)?
Both versions share the same design and installation method. The difference is purely stem diameter: 6 mm instead of 4 mm. The 6 mm plug is used for puncture channels too wide for the 4 mm stem, where a thinner stem wouldn't fully fill the opening.
Which cements should be used with the 3-13-383?
The manufacturer recommends Xtra Seal Standard cement or Super-Blu. Cement is applied to the plug stem and to the tire's inner surface around the puncture channel, then left to dry before installation.
Who is this product for?
It's intended for tire repair shops and service centers that carry out cold vulcanization repairs with vulcanizing cement, without using a heat press.
